Wantagh Music Department
Wantagh HS Music Performs at Disney + Universal!
We were thrilled to travel once again to Disney World and Universal Studios! Over 200 student musicians from our choruses, orchestras, and bands performed at Disney Springs at Disney World and participated in the Universal Studios Sound Design Workshop. Students recorded the soundtrack to a scene from Despicable Me and Trolls in a recording studio with the help of a movie sound producer and their sound engineering team. Students also had the opportunity to do all the voice overs and Foley Sound Effects! Congratulations to our student musicians!
MS Orchestra Fiddle Day for St. Patrick's Day!
Middle School Orchestra students, under the direction of Ms. Courtney Miller, performed various tunes at Fiddle Day on March 16th for Cohort A and March 17th for Cohort B! This was an excellent opportunity to get orchestra students motivated and excited about their debut performance this year! Sixth grade students focused on basic string technique, while the older middle school string musicians learned more advanced techniques such as double stops and slides. A big thank you to HS Orchestra teacher Mrs. Dina Langer who assisted at rehearsals and to Wantagh Elementary Orchestra teacher Mrs. Eliza Dellamonica, who joined in on the fun at both performances. Congratulations students on a fantastic performance!
HS Bands Perform in Disney and Universal Studios!
All three of our high school bands combined forces to create the Wantagh Festival Band for their Disney and Universal Studios trip. Students performed a concert for a packed house at Disney Springs' amphitheater and also performed in Universal Studios Sound Design Workshop. They recorded the soundtrack to a scene from Despicable Me in their recording studio, along with a movie producer and professional sound engineering team. Students also had the opportunity to do all the voice overs and Foley Sound Effects! Congratulations to our student musicians!
