A Welcomed Respite

A Welcomed Respite

A Welcomed Respite is a non-profit Organization, providing information, resources, and respite opportunities to families who are caring for a child with a developmental disability.

Challenger Lacrosse

Challenger Challenger League - South Shore's mission is to establish a lacrosse program for people with both physical and cognitive disabilities. Our objective is to foster, promote and encourage sportsmanship, teamwork and friendship through the sport of lacrosse.

Dogability Center

DogAbility

DogAbility Center invite participants to visit at an all-inclusive location where a specialized canine-interactive experience is aligned with a participant's needs. Dogability provides canine-assisted activities, utilizing certified dogs, supervised by professionals and/or devoted volunteers while providing education, recreation, socialization, inspiration or comfort to a large variety of individuals and groups. Participants include adults and children with and without special needs.

Participants engage not only in one-on-one experiences including elements found in canine sports, but also learn about behavior/nutrition and veterinary care. Offering multiple activities at our location brings enhanced value to DogAbility Center's participants.

Eden II/Genesis Programs Provides ABA Therapy through Insurance for Individuals with Autism

EDEN II Eden II/Genesis Programs has been a leader in providing services utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for individuals with autism for over 35 years. ABA Therapy uses basic principles of behavior to bring about meaningful and lasting changes in the skills and behavior of individuals with ASD. Most insurance plans in New York are now required by law to cover up to 680 hours per year of ABA therapy for individuals with autism. The Eden II Programs Diagnostic and Outreach Center works with all eligible insurance plans for the ABA therapy program and was one of the first agencies in the region to provide these services. Eden II Programs is now offering ABA Therapy to Long Island families. The Eden II Programs Diagnostic and Outreach Center has clinicians with expertise in all aspects of autism programming and service delivery, and has the most advanced ABA treatment program in the Tri-state area. The staff at Eden II/Genesis has many years of ABA experience and is providing families and individuals with the highest quality support and treatment programs. All ABA therapy programs at Eden II/Genesis are developed and supervised by Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with significant experience working with individuals on the spectrum. ABA therapy is provided at the "location of need" which may include the individual's home or school, the community, or a specialized treatment setting.

The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Long Island Branch

DyslexiaLIBranch The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) is an organization focused on the complex issues of dyslexia and related language-based learning disabilities which make it difficult to learn to read and write. NSASA-The Nassau-Suffolk Autism Society of America

NSASA NSASA is a volunteer organization of parents who have children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. Though not a service provider, NSASA fundraisers enable them to assist families with social, recreational and educational opportunities. All of the funds raised go right into community-based programs.

Founders, Dawn Meany, a parent of a child with special needs, and Melissa Kearns a special education teacher and career counselor, embarked on this adventure to create a place where individuals can work together alongside one another and their community. Office for People with Developmental Disabilities The New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is responsible for coordinating services for more than 126,000 New Yorkers with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, and other disabilities. It provides services directly and through a network of approximately 700 nonprofit service providing agencies, with about 80 percent of services provided by the private nonprofits and 20 percent provided by state-run services.

Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program

Rolling Thunder Rolling Thunder Special Needs Program is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing challenged individuals with the opportunity to successfully participate in all levels of mainstream running, walking or wheelchair racing year round.

Rolling Thunder is open to developmentally and/or physically challenged individuals, age 5 or older, regardless of athletic ability. (RTSNP currently has team members ranging in age from 5 to 50+ years old). The team is also open to typical siblings and parents, and to any members of the community willing to volunteer their time and effort. RTSNP is a true inclusion program, integrating special needs individuals with their typical peers at all team practices, races and events. All team coaches are volunteers. (RTSNP has no paid staff). There is no membership fee to join or to participate in Rolling Thunder activities.

Sensational Development We Are A Private Practice Providing Pediatric & Adolescent Occupational Therapy Services.
